Today is about fun and experiencing the medium of watercolor with the guidance of a seasoned landscape painter and teacher. You will learn about the dynamics of watercolor as a medium, how to develop and control the pigments and water concentrations of washes, and a bit of design and composition theory as well. You may even end up with a nice watercolor painting of Grandfather Mountain as a result of your efforts! The day will begin with a discussion and demonstration, followed by a guided painting lab beginning late morning and continuing throughout the afternoon. We will wrap up with a closure discussion of our personal successes and/or challenges of the day, Q & A, and encouraging ideas for continuing to explore watercolor on your own!
