European farmhouse style will charm you in Southern Ashe County at Harvest Home! From the half-timbered exterior to the copper farmhouse sink to the pastoral and long-range views, you'll feel like you are a world away from life as usual. From the deck you can see Grandfather Mountain and Elk Knob as well as pastures and a Christmas tree farm closer in!
The owners of Harvest Home have made the yard comfortable for your enjoyment, with a picnic table, a hammock and a walking trail offering surprises along the way. While it is ideally located to explore the High Country, you might be happy to while away the afternoon in a log rocker, the perfect spot for a juicy novel (is there the mountain equivalent of a good beach read?), a cup of tea, or your favorite vino. Al fresco dinners under the red umbrella are another way to enjoy this cabin's outdoor space.
A bedroom and bath on each floor gives you and your guests a bit of space. The main floor bedroom is just off the kitchen, and has wood floors and access to the main floor bathroom. Upstairs you'll find the private master suite, with a queen-sized bed, its own balcony and a snug chair when quiet time is calling your name. You'll also find a loft with a sleeper sofa and a television as well as stereo. The loft TV has a Roku player so you can watch your favorites and steam all the free channels offered through the device.
The cabin is in the Fleetwood area, and the community provides river access on the South Fork of the New, as well as a walking trail to falls within the neighborhood and a common pond.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Harvest Home is centrally located for an exploration of the High Country. You'll enjoy the striking country drive along the river to the village of Todd, under 15 minutes away on a level road perfect for bicycling. In the village, stop by and have a homemade lunch or delightful baked goods made by Helen and her staff at the Todd Mercantile, or come to one of the community potluck dinners followed by a dance each moth (check out our events page for more info). Also offered monthly are concerts on the green. Just around the corner from the Mercantile you'll find one of our favorite river outfitters at River Girl Fishing. Kelly and company will hook you up with canoes, kayaks or tubes, or bicycles. If you want to fish, they've got the gear, too!
From the cabin, you can be in West Jefferson in 20 minutes or Boone in 25, choose one or the other or both on different days! Or consider a drive along the Parkway for a special treat of views and the mountain landscape.
West Jefferson's annual festivals provide an extra reason to come to the area (as if escaping the heat, relaxing, and gathering with friends and family).
$50 per pet fee, up to 2 dogs.
