Roxy's Riverfront Retreat is a sweet riverfront cottage located on the South Fork of the New River. The river is wide here, and you'll enjoy an expansive lawn below the house, and the fire pit surrounded by colorful Adirondack chairs. During our cool summer or fall evenings enjoy a bonfire, with marshmallows toasting, graham crackers and chocolate staged nearby waiting on the gooey sweetness, and your loved ones around you.

The cottage greets you with a large covered front porch, the perfect spot to wave at the other neighbors in the community of Coopers Cove. Or if privacy is preferred, the covered porch on the river side is a restful spot for a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, a good book (with or without the first two) or an al fresco meal. From this vantage point, you'll look down at the lazy river gliding past, which is sure to relax you into a mountain vacation state of mind.

The cottage features an open floor plan, and from the bright kitchen the cook is able to see the television, which comes with a generous TV package, as well a Smart TV for apps as well as a Wii. Two sofas are the perfect place to relax in the evenings, and if you are in the mood for a movie, you'll find a large selection of DVDs. If it's music you prefer, there's a variety of CDs, too. You'll find comfortable seating for four at the kitchen island, with plenty of counter space for food prep. There's an electric oven, counter microwave and a side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water dispenser.

Roxy's cottage is a 2-bedroom home, with sleeping space for eight, but cozy enough for just a couple. The master bedroom offers a Queen-sized bed and you'll wake up to views of the river! The second bedroom has a full along with a set of bunk beds, maximizing the space along with a sleeper sofa in the living room. The bedrooms share a full bath on the main floor, and you'll love the creative use of painted canoe paddles for the hooks. For convenience when you've been playing outdoors on the lawn or in the river, there's a half bath on the lower level. That's where you'll also find a ping pong table, sure to attract all ages for a friendly competition.

Roxy's is pet friendly! We love taking our dogs with us, too, so relax and enjoy the easy to clean floors, and plenty of room for four-legged family member to vacation, too.

Roxy's Riverfront Retreat is located on the northeast side of Ashe County. Folks often tell us this is the most beautiful area, where you can enjoy remarkable views if you go for a country drive. From this location you are within 30 minutes of the towns of Jefferson and Sparta (a gorgeous drive) and Lansing, which boasts a fun pizza place, called Pie on the Mountain. The cottage is 35 minutes to Mount Jefferson State Natural Area - you can drive to the top to enjoy an incredible view, or take one of the regularly scheduled hikes with a ranger on the weekend. It's about 45 minutes to the Grayson Highlands State Park over the state line into Virginia. At the park, visitors enjoy the breathtaking views, awesome hiking trails, historic cabins, events like the annual Wayne Henderson Music Festival, and encounters with wild ponies. Closer to the cottage, you'll find the visitors center at the New River State Park, which offers trails and picnicking. And don't forget a visit to Doughton Park's historic cabin on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was built in 1880 and a Park Ranger might be there to spin wool and tell you about the Brinegar family, who managed to eke out a living there until 1935.

$50 per pet fee, up to 2 dogs.

Recent Reviews About This Property

"We spent an amazing weekend there! The house is beautiful and the views from the back deck are amazing. There was plenty of room for 5 of us. The house had lots of stuff to keep us entertained from the ping pong table, Internet, board games and everything you needed to prepare meals in the kitchen and on the grill. Unfortunately we did not get to use the fire pit this time but will definitely be back this summer to make s’mores. My husband spent two days fly fishing and caught a bass and a trout and the girls and I spent all day hanging out by the river. I loved that the house comes with linens and towels for the river. It makes it so convenient to just pack up the kids and food and head off to the mountains. Thank you for sharing your home with us and we will be booking another long weekend there soon."
