Fleetwood, located in Southern Ashe County, is an easy drive from anywhere to just about anywhere! Firefly Fields is a log cabin with easy access to local roads and highways. Everything's on one floor, making this an ideal rental for those of you who want to avoid stairs, or who want to be on the same floor as small children. For extra security, the neighborhood is gated during the night.
You'll enjoy coming home to this cabin after a day of exploring. You'll enter the cabin through the large screened-in porch with a daybed and plenty of cozy seating. It's the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail. But if you prefer to do so with privacy, you'll love the back patio and tiered garden which features a table for al fresco dining.
The vaulted rooms (including the bedrooms!) are light and airy, and we love the stylish decorating with a mix of modern farmhouse and a few well-chosen antiques. An open floorplan means your guests and family will be with the cook while watching television or socializing around the fireplace. Wood floors reflect the natural light.
In cooler weather you'll enjoy the stacked stone gas log fireplace while relaxing, playing games or catching a movie. And before the evening's out, everyone can relax in the hot tub under the stars!
All the bedrooms are nicely sized, and you'll enjoy sleeping in the comfy King-sized bed in the master, or the Queen-sized beds in the other two bedrooms. The bathrooms are updated with beautiful vanities and tile work. The master bath has marble counters and a glamorous walk-in shower. In both bedrooms, there are plenty of places to store your clothes if you are staying for more than a weekend. In case a load of laundry needs to get done, the washer and dryer are conveniently located off the kitchen.
The cabin comes in at just under 1,500 square feet, which is, as Goldilocks said, "Just the right size." That way, you'll spend your time exploring the area or simply relaxing - isn't that what a visit to the mountains is all about?
Speaking of exploring, with this cabin's location, you are only 15 minutes from the shops, galleries, festivals and restaurants of West Jefferson, and 20 minutes to Boone. It's only 6 minutes to the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you go North, you can stop in Glendale Springs and visit the frescos at the Episcopalian chapel with unique frescoes by artist Ben Long, or the Trading Post open seasonally, or the café and the delightful Greenhouse Crafts shop. Farther north is the historic Brinegar cabin at Doughton Park, where if you are lucky an interpreter can tell you about the challenges of life in the mountains. Or go South and investigate the trails, shop and park at Moses Cone Manor, with a stop in Blowing Rock while you are in the area. Regardless of which direction you choose, the famous Parkway views will be yours.
From this cabin, it's a 15 minute drive to the village of Todd, unless you slow down the pace to enjoy the scenic countryside and the South Fork of the New River. In Todd, you can have coffee and a home-baked snack served up by Helen and her staff at the Todd Mercantile, rent canoes, kayaks, inner tubes or bicycles from the River Girl Fishing outfitters, or take in one of the concerts in the park. Don't forget to stop at the Todd Island Park and enjoy a stroll through the piece of the New River preserved by donations from the community?there's plenty of parking and a graceful bridge to get onto the island.
Boone also offers plenty to do! You won't run out of places to check out while staying at Firefly Fields cabin. Of course, sitting still in this beautiful home is a perfectly acceptable way to spend your time in the mountains!
This cabin is NOT pet friendly.

David J. from Erwin, 11/05/2019

"My family and I had a lovely weekend here. Nice and cozy inside with great amenities. Really close to Boone and hiking trails. "

Heather C. from RALEIGH, 11/19/2019

"Cabin as described, very clean. Kitchen stocked with everything you needed clean, prep and cook. King bed uncomfortable, mattress is on a metal frame without a box spring. Things to do are about 35-60 minute drive, not a bad drive. I recommend staying here, we will be back"

elizabeth m. from Vero Beach, 01/03/2020

"Our stay was amazing! The property is spacious, clean & beautiful to look at first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee. We enjoyed the horses as well. The cabin itself was a great size and clean. We did get lost the first time finding the cabin due to the construction in the area but then we were fine. Definitely would come again or rent from their rental company."

Tierra R. from Summerville, 04/13/2020

"Very relaxing and enjoyable stay in a beautiful part of NC! The cabin was just the right size, and surrounding area is so picturesque. Love the screened in porch. Appreciated the rental having everything we needed at the property and good information was provided in advance and onsite.

"The home was very clean. The kitchen was fully stocked and made it very easy to cook for a large crew. It is about a 5 minute drive to a river access which wasn't bad at all. The horses across the street were a beautiful view to wake up too. The kids had a great time exploring across the street on the creek and relaxing in the hot tub. Favorite part of the entire house was the master bathroom shower. Absolutely gorgeous and just what we needed after coming off the river. Thank you for providing a beautiful home for our vacation. We can't wait to rent another home with this company next year. Only suggestion I have is to provide a few more towels and wash cloths. "

Anna T. from Leland, 07/07/2020

"The cabin’s location was perfect for us for some relaxation and some restaurant location research. Very convenient to Boone and West Jefferson. This was probably the cleanest and most equipped cabin we have ever rented. Will be back!"

Warren S. from Florence, 07/12/2020

"My rental was great. It had everything you would need to cook a meal in the kitchen. Also was very comfortable over all with accommodations. "

Bridget K. from Winston Salem, 07/15/2020

"We absolutely loved the cabin! Plenty of room for 6 adults - we cooked a lot and couldn't have asked for a more stocked kitchen - had every utensil/pot we needed. Loved the horses across the street and the views. Will definitely try to stay again as West Jefferson area is so close to so many attractions."

from Mebane, 10/15/2020

"This cabin makes me way to move here it had everything we needed. We loved the fireplace and the hot tub. Coming home to this was the perfect end to our day. The horses across the way was icing on the cake. The owner let my girls feed them apples. "

from Jacksonville, 12/03/2020

"We had a wonderful stay at Firefly Fields cabin - the location was perfect, right between Boone and West Jefferson! The horses across from the cabin were an absolute delight and the blanket of snow we woke up to was icing on the cake! We couldn't have asked for a better get away and cannot wait to return!"

Stephanie R. from Charlotte, 01/21/2021

"We all loved the home. It was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen. The location was quiet and the horses across the street were a charming plus.
On the down side, we found the TV's difficult to use and there was no Netflix or other streaming included. One of the beds broke while we were there, but we let management know so hopefully future visitors will not have to deal with that.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay."
