Just down the hall another bedroom offers a queen bed, as well as a third bedroom with twin beds. If you need overflow sleeping space, you'll find a futon in the office, and daybed downstairs. "We had a wonderful time at Temenos on the river. We had a group of 7 (2 children) and we had plenty of room. We thoroughly enjoyed the large back deck and the large yard. Although the property is extremely close to another home, the neighbors were friendly. The property has plenty of games and toys for children and we were extremely grateful! We only had three recommendations from our stay: 1. The furniture in the living room is not exactly comfortable. Although this did not inconvenience us, as the weather was nice and we spent most of our time relaxing on the deck, this would be extremely unfortunate in the colder months. 2. The weeds/trees along the bank of the river make it extremely hard to access the river anywhere besides the rock steps. Most of the other lots were nicely landscaped along the river's edge. Once again, we were only slightly inconvenienced as the water level was up and we only fished in the river. 3. Although the property pictures highlight the hammock by the river, the hammock was no where to be found. We ran up the road to Walmart and grabbed one as this was quite a bummer when we arrived. Overall we had a great time and we will consider staying at Temenos in the future!"
"Temenos provided a relaxing getaway for our family! We were 5 adults and 2 kids and there was plenty of space. The kitchen was the best we have ever had in a rental. It had lovely dishware and all the cooking items we needed to comfortably cook all our meals. The bonus of the gas grill was great! The kids loved the hammock and hammock chair. We had perfect weather for outside dining and we used the dining table every evening. The house was fully stocked with everything we could need or want and it really felt like we were using a friend's house rather than renting. There are three good size bedrooms, but in addition the futon in the office was great for a child to have their own room. The downstairs bed was a nice spot for a single adult with its own full bath. The downstairs had games, chairs and a mini fridge for extra drinks.
Can't say enough about the beauty of the location right on the river! It was close to several fun day trips. The owners provided a binder of ideas. The lot is large for kids to play but less steep than many around and provided great access to the river. We enjoyed floating on tubes from the bridge at Old 16; an easy 1/2 hour float back to the house as well as few other rides in the area. Would recommend bringing your own tubes rather than renting so you can go whenever and as often as you like.
The small things that did not change our enjoyment, but would have made the trip even more perfect were there was spotty (or no) cell service in and around the house (we have AT&T), the refrigerator in the kitchen leaked on the inside, the garbage compactor didn't work and the sun shade on the porch would not go back up. None of these kept us from fully enjoying. Finally, the neighbors to the left closest to the bridge)really don't want people walking on their yard. So, while that lot provides access to the bridge (for fishing, etc) don't be tempted to walk across.
We look forward to returning to Temenos soon! "
"We needed a restful weekend, and that is just what Temenos on the River allowed. The layout of the house is just right. Being right on the river is such a delight. We enjoyed the game room in the evening. Outside deck and grill made for super dinners. As we were driving closer to the house, we were wondering where it could be. But, keep going. The driveway is steep, but safe. Having 4 Wheel drive in the rain was a bonus for the incline. "
"My family absolutely loved our stay at Temenos. The giant grassy lawn was perfect for our young children (2 1/2 and 1 year old) to run and play. On a rainy day, we played in the basement, bouncing ping pong balls around. And the wonderful assortment of toys in the living room was an instant hit, providing hours of entertainment for both kids.
We loved the beautiful view of the river and the quiet neighborhood. Our 2 year old practiced reeling his fishing pole, and my husband fly fished. The hammock was fun too! I spent a lovely afternoon lounging in the hammock reading while the kids napped.
The location is great for outings too. We went out almost every day for hikes: Mt Jefferson, Grayson Highlands, and New River State Park.
We hope to come back!"
"We were very pleased with Temenos. Everything was as described in the listing and we enjoyed our visit. Our favorite place was sitting on the deck watching the river and enjoying the autumn colors."
"Wonderful very quite getaway!!! Great for the whole family. Kids loved the activities in the basement and the parents loved the quite time on the back deck over looking the river. "
