Matthew W. from , 11/09/2011

"We were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of this Bear's Den, how new it was, how homey it was, and how well it was stocked with everything we could possibly need for our stay. The property is beautiful and we liked some of it better than our own homes! We'd love to stay at Bear's Den again and will be recommending Ashe High Country Vacations to all our friends heading out west! Our only regret is that we all forgot to sign the guestbook. Thanks so much!!!"

Lindsay S. from Raleigh, 11/15/2011

"The property management company was very helpful in finding a cabin for us and even allowed us to make a change at the last minute. The cabin was spotless and had all the comforts of home. There was a fire bowl with all the supplies for building a fire ready to go, so we built a fire and enjoyed sitting outside under the stars."

Robin R. from Jonesboro, 11/23/2011

"Had a great time at the Bear's Den. Great location, just what we were looking for."

Jean P. from Albemarle, 01/02/2012

Don H. from , 09/11/2012

"Great weekend getaway! You'll love it!"

from Pfafftown, 10/16/2012

"The management company was top notch; very responsive. While there is a house directly in front and one behind the property, we NEVER saw anyone else on the top of the hill with us. The property/yard is great for campfires, throwing the frisbee, and they have lots of outdoor games that are provided. The only (slight) drawback is that you couldn't really venture off the property to hike with the little ones...dense vegetation surrounds. But the outdoor hot tub was a hit for my son. The bedrooms were large (and the beds were comfortable), the indoor gas fireplace was a nice touch, and the kitchen had everything you needed to cook. Also they provide all the firewood and outdoor chairs you need for the campfire.

We had a blast!!!!"

Jody Z. from Raleigh, 11/08/2012

"Loved this cabin! Hope to return in the future to check out the sites & Tweetsie Railroad. It rained our entire stay so we had to make other plans. Still had a memory-filled stay at Bear's Den. "

Tara B. from Stuarts Draft, 07/08/2013

"Perfect charming little cabin for a weekend getaway. Good size for a family of five. Had to use the rollaway bed, but kids loved that. Bathrooms were nice and large. Loved the porch swing and huge grassy area in front. Will definitely be back!"

from whispering pines, 07/23/2013

"Overall, this cabin is a 4.99 star! We had a jar peanut butter on the counter and in less than an hour there was a trail of ants anxious for a snack. This is hardly something to worry about when booking. We will book this cabin again for sure. Had a great weekend and look forward to returning!"

"My stay at the Bear's Den was pleasant and cozy. The house was beautiful with a fire place, 2 hots and a outside Jacuzzi.I didn't care for the location because of the narrow roads but overall it was a very nice place to vacation. # Peaceful"

jennifer e. from Darien, 04/17/2014

"Bear's Den was a cozy 2 bedroom cabin with a very spacious living area in Fleetwood, a good location for two couples, attending the 4 day Merlefest Americana music festival. We enjoyed everything about the cabin with one exception... Neighbors dogs barked long and loud in the mornings. Other than that it was perfectly appointed for both festival-going and fly-fishing. "

Judy R. from Browns Summitt, 04/29/2014

"Very clean and well stocked with linens, dishes, and small appliances. the decor was beautiful. the only things that needed help were some of the blinds and the grill had no lava rocks in the bottom . we will be back many times."

shari b. from louisburg, 06/03/2014

"

Sandra P. from Belmont, 08/13/2014

"We had a great time at the Bear's Den. It was obvious that great care was taken to furnish and accessorize the cabin...very cute (and very clean too)."

Sheri D. from , 10/21/2014

"We are planning on going back. Beautiful location, awesome cabin. "

David T. from Charlotte, 10/28/2014

"Two couples enjoyed a weekend in the mountains while attending Merlefest in April. The cabin was very comfortable with a really nice open kitchen/living area and two big master suites. Once we learned to adjust the temperature of the "on demand" hot water, there was plenty for showers, etc. The area is quiet and picturesque. This is our third year at Bear's Den for Merlefest, and we look forward to coming back."

Judith R. from Browns Summit, 05/12/2015

" We had an excellent time at Bears den.The cabin was very clean. It was far enough out to be quiet but close enough to everything to be convenient. I loved that the kitchen was fully equipped and had everything we needed to prepare meals ."

from jacksonville, 01/18/2016

"This is a beautiful, modern, nicely furnished cabin. It's in a quiet location, but within striking distance of Boone (for restaurant and grocery purposes). I loved being near the Todd Railroad Grade Road for biking! My only disappointment was the absence of a king-sized bed. (The two beds are both queens.)

Heartily recommended!"

from chaple hill, 07/20/2016

"We wanted a remote, peaceful location and were not disappointed. The cabin was clean and well-stocked and had been maintained well. If you want quiet and don't mind driving over bumpy gravel roads to get in and out, this is the place."

from St. Simons Island, 08/16/2016

"We had a wonderful time at Bear's Den! It was very clean and quiet. The location was peaceful and easy to get to in a car."

from Monroe, 10/03/2016

"Cabin was as advertised. Clean, lots of towels and blankets provided. Stocked kitchen."

from Concord, 11/23/2016

"November 2016: An actual log cabin that's quaint, and literally "off the beaten path" was what we hoped to find for our quiet Thanksgiving week, and the Bear's Den fit the description perfectly! Here you'll find all the modern conveniences, exceptionally clean and cozy, and just close enough to civilization at West Jefferson to allow us to break up the quiet with a little mountain culture and hospitality. We STRONGLY RECOMMEND this property AND this agency for your NC mountain getaway!"

Alice S. from Waxhaw, 11/28/2016

"A beautiful cabin, not far from some out door activities. If you are looking for a secluded cabin experience this is NOT the place. The pictures can be a little deceiving. You have a large cabin behind you over looking you and 2 residential homes in front of you. So privacy is not here. Besides that it is a beautiful cabin but is a little pricey. All in all we enjoyed our stay and the place was kept up very well"

from Dacula, 01/04/2017

"Our 2nd visit. Kitchen was well stocked, managing staff was friendly and helpful.

The cabin is located a few miles from West Jefferson and Boone. Great location."

Tony S. from Hampstead, 02/21/2017

"This cabin was exactly what our family needed. It was very clean and well supplied with all the necessities. The cabin was located close to Boone, which allowed for even more family fun. "

Sonya A. from Raleigh, 11/26/2017

"This was our second stay at the cabin and we loved it just as much as the first time! All you need to bring are clothes and food and you won’t have to leave! The hot tub is amazing!!! Looking forward to planning another trip soon!!"

Angel R. from Stanley, 12/05/2017

"We rented the cabin to go out cycling for a weekend around Boone and the location was perfect for that. Cabin is very nice and have the needed amenities including a great hot tub, so overall very satisfied with our stay."

Jesper M. from Raleigh, 06/26/2018

"Everything you could ask for and more!!"

from Statesville, 09/05/2018

"My family had a great time just wish we could have enjoyed the cabin a little more than we did. We never got to use the hot tub as time was an issue. The only thing was the fireplace did not work; read the instructions but still could not get it to come on, so a little disappointed in that but that was the only thing. "

Katherine A. from Linwood, 10/23/2018

"Cabin was clean and layout was perfect . We enjoyed relaxing in the cozy living room and hot tub location was just right for a day outing to west Jefferson. Cabin was well ripped with anything you might need and the bathrooms were large and both had jacuzzi tubs. For us the place was perfect"

Marcus V. from Fuquay varina, 11/06/2018

"Loved this cabin for our “girls weekend”! Very spacious and cozy. Had everything we needed. The bedrooms are on opposite ends of the cabin, that was a plus. Loved the hot tub as well. However, if you’re looking for total seclusion, this is not the place. The pictures are deceiving, there are other houses all around. Still a great place, though. Very easy to find and not too far from restaurants and grocery. There is a Dollar General about 10min. away. Food Lion about 20min. Easy driving though, no real curvy roads. The road leading up to the cabin is the worst road of the trip, it’s narrow and uneven but maneuvered just fine in a car. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back! "

from Jamestown, 11/13/2018

"We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. We have been spending Thanksgiving there for ~20 years and this cabin was among the best. We appreciated being able to bring our puppy Molly. We had a little snow, some ice which melted quickly and wonderful accommodations. Perfect kitchen for preparing and enjoying a Thanksgiving feast. Excellent internet connection and TV reception to enjoy the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. We had a Christmas tree cut from the tree far on Cranberry Springs Road close to the cabin. We brought it back to Florida and had our house decorated for Christmas by Sunday night. Thank you for an amazing cabin."

Nell R. from Jacksonville, 11/27/2018

"This was our 2nd time at this cabin and it was everything we loved about it the first time! My little family made so many memories and cant wait to come back next year! "

Lindsay L. from Macclenny, 02/12/2019

"Beautiful surroundings and lovely cabin. Our only complaints had to do with cleanliness. The refrigerator needed to be cleaned, as did the porches on both the front and back of the house. I think the cleaning service might not be doing as thorough a job overall as would be expected, considering the effort the owners have put into decorating the cabin. Thanks for the great time, otherwise!"

Ivy K. from Alexandria, 06/03/2019

"We loved the quiet, peaceful and comfortable Bear’s Den Cabin in Fleetwood, NC. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed for the week; we brought food but enjoyed the restaurants in the surrounding areas. The temperature never got above 80 degrees in the day with low humidity; perfect for swinging on the comfortable front porch swing and listening to the birds sing. We didn’t want to leave at the end of the week - our plan is to return soon!"
