You’ll understand why this cabin is called tranquility the moment you walk through the doors. The quaint log cabin is elevated over the South Fork of the New River, making it the ideal spot to unplug and reconnect with nature.
Tranquility on the New River was designed to take full advantage of the picturesque setting. In the morning, brew cup of coffee in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoy it on the oversized deck where views of the river span for miles. Enjoy meals al fresco and listen to the calm waters lap against the riverbanks or light a bonfire in the firepit and roast marshmallows under the stars.
For a closer look, walk down to the riverbank. The cabin is just minutes from the public river access at New River State Park Elk Shoals. Bring your own kayaks or inner tubes or book an excursion with one of the local outfitters to see why the slow-moving ancient river is a top spot for recreation in the High Country.
The cabin is in West Jefferson, just minutes to downtown where the streets are lined with boutiques, art galleries, restaurants. Stroll along the main street and appreciate the murals or stop in to Ashe County Cheese Factory for snacks or the makings of a picnic to enjoy at one of the scenic overlooks along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
West Jefferson is also a great base for exploring the rest of the High Country, including Grayson Highlands State Park, Boone and Blowing Rock.
Or, stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet. Tranquility on the New River has a roomy open floor plan with a well-equipped kitchen, dining area with enough space to accommodate a crowd and two living areas.
On the main level, the cozy living room has a gas fireplace and plenty of movies and board games to keep everyone entertained. A game room on the lower level includes a pool table and fireplace, access to decks (with more river views) and extra sleeping quarters.
When it’s time to rest after a day of activities, Tranquility on the New River has two queen size beds on the main level, a queen bed in the loft, and a king bed downstairs, making it easy to sleep, eight.
There are external cameras monitoring the public areas outside of the house.
