Guidance from Savvy Locals

We’re devoted exclusively to the Blue Ridge, and we know every back road and byway. We’ll put this personal familiarity to work for you. We know how to find what you’re looking for, and what it’s worth. Big companies that try to cover the globe simply can’t offer this personalized, first-hand expertise.

Selecting your charming vacation home is only part of the fun. What would you like to do while you’re here? From simply relaxing and exploring nature, to taking in the local culture, we can help you plan an unforgettable itinerary.

Check out our Events page – our special guide to all the local attractions, activities and unique mountain hot-spots. If you want to chat about your options, give us a call at 877-601-5020.

Discover the High Country

There’s a lot more to love about the High Country than just the scenery. Here you’ll enjoy an enticing array of attractions and outdoor recreation. In quaint towns like West Jefferson (let’s always put WJ first), Boone and Blowing Rock you’ll find superb dining and shopping options, including antique stores and art galleries. Tour the campus of Appalachian State University, or visit our craft breweries. And of course, wherever you go, the journey will be as satisfying as the destination, with captivating views at every turn.

We have four true seasons, and each one is enchanting…

Spring is delightful, with sunny days, moderate temperatures, and a landscape leaping to life. This is the perfect time for hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway, or bicycling through the area’s many scenic routes. If you’re a sportsman, don’t forget to take advantage of our outstanding trout and bass fishing.

The summer is fabulous, with very little humidity and almost no bugs. In these warmer months, the New River offers tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. It’s also a perfect time for golfing and horseback riding.

Of course, fall is one of the most popular seasons of all, with brilliant, coveted fall color blanketing every slope. And winter is a true wonderland, when you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing or ice skating at our many area resorts.

But the best news? You really don’t have to anything, if you don’t want to.

Just sit on the porch and feel the stress of the city melt away.

All this… and it’s affordable, too!

Below are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) with answers. *BYO means (Bring Your Own).

PRIOR TO BOOKING Q's:

What are your Current Specials? The best way to learn of our Specials is to (A) Be on our mailing list or be a past guest, or (B) Give the office a call. Currently, we offer Stay 6 Nights and get the 7th FREE, available year-round including holidays. And Repeat Guests: Complimentary early check-ins and late check-outs (as long as the property is clean and available).

Are my Pet(s) allowed and what is the fee? We only allow dogs, no cats ever. Our fee is $50/dog, up to 45 pounds. We require dogs to be at least 2 years old (no puppies) & crate/leash trained (or noever left alone). Limit 2 dogs. NOTE: We have many cabins that are NOT dog friendly and two cabins with a $100/dog fee (clearly notated in descriptions). You can also search by pet friendly and non-pet friendly options on our website - CLICK HERE! If you intend to bring more than 2 dogs or have a dog larger than 45 pounds, you will require in-advance approval.

Do I need 4x4 or AWD during the winter months? We care about your safety and highly recommend that you drive a vehicle with 4x4 or AWD to access all of our cabins from November through March (and this means everyone in your group!). We do not offer refunds or cabin switches because you arrived unprepared for snowy winter conditions. Pro Tip: For safety, buy chains through Amazon and return them if/when you do not use them.

What is your cancellation policy? All cancellations MUST be received in writing. No refunds can be made until the property has been re-rented on a comparable basis and confirmed. If the property is not re-rented, your entire advance rent payment will be forfeited. $85 cancellation fee will be charged and deducted from your refund if your property is re-rented. Once rebooked, refunds can take up to 30 days to process. We encourage all renters to purchase Traveler Insurance.

Should I purchase Trip Insurance? We recommend families purchase trip insurance as protection against the unexpected because we will not veer much from our cancellation policy.

What is Accidental Damages Protection? Your reservation includes accidental damage protection insurance, up to $500. However, this does NOT include excessive cleaning or deliberate damages to property.

Can I exceed the party size allowed at the cabin? It does not hurt to ask, but probably not. Maximum party sizes are in place to protect the property and often their well and septic.

Can I arrive on a holiday, like Christmas Day? No, our cleaners will not be working those days, so if you have special date arrival requests, it's best to message us before reserving.

Can I read your Vacation Rental Agreement? Yes, here is our "Vacation Rental Agreement."

POST BOOKING Q's:

How and where do I check-in? We signed the no-contact pledge! Go straight to your cabin and use your supplied door code or lockbox code.

Late Check-outs and early Check-ins? We try to be a little flexible and allow wiggle room of an hour or two, but only if the cabin is clean and ready and/or no guests are coming the afternoon you are departing. Game time decisions for sure! More than 1-2 hours and there can be a convenience fee of $35 added with your permission.

Do you supply linens, blankets pillows & towels? Yes, we supply these items! Pro Tip: BYO beach towels for if your cabin has a hot tub or water access.

What is included in the "Starter Set" of basics provided? We supply only a roll of toilet paper per bathroom, a roll of paper towels, hand soaps and some dish soap, enough for a night or two, but probably not enough to get you through your entire trip. Please bring additional or pick some up locally when at the store. Pro Tip: Pack some extra trash bags regardless, they always come in handy.

Do you supply condiments and coffee? BYO Coffee and Condiments. We no longer supply shared items (since COVID). Your cabin is equipped with a drip coffee maker unless clearly noted a Keurig is provided. Feel free to BYO-Keurig from home, a lot of guests do!

Do you supply firewood for Fire Pits or Wood-Burning Fireplaces? Most homes do not supply firewood, but you can pick some up at most gas stations, box stores and grocery stores.

What about grills? We supply gas for the propane grills, but BYO CHARCOAL for charcoal grills.

How equipped is our kitchen? Your kitchen is equipped with what you need to prepare and serve basic meals. We welcome you to bring your favorite knife or kitchen staples that you cannot live without. Our kitchens will be supplied more basic than home.

Can I switch dates or cabins? It depends on how in-advance your request is. We typically do not allow last-minute date changes by more than a day or two and rarely cabin switches unless well in advance.

Can I shoot guns, light fireworks, smoke inside or ride a dirt bike/ATV on property? No, absolutely not.

DURING & POST STAY Q's:

What happens if I have an issue while at the cabin? First check your Welcome Book to see how to work an amenity, often the answer is simple and in the book! Next message or call us if you have a complaint! That is easier and better than not telling us! We want to meet your expectations and will do our best to fix all issues within our power.

What are my Check-out Instructions? Instructions are posted at your cabin and inside your Welcome Book. They include, but are not limited to, starting a load of towels, doing your dishes, locking doors, closing windows, turning the HVAC to a recommended temperature and removing your trash.

I forget an item at the cabin! Please double and triple check before you depart. Retrieving, boxing and mailing items is very labor-intensive and expensive. We will pass along at least a $25 fee PLUS the cost to ship items to guests. We prefer you bring everything you brought!

I cancelled my reservation and want to see if I qualify for a partial refund? If we re-booked some or all of your stay, you are entitled to a partial to near full refund. We will issue a credit to your card on file, but only AFTER your original departure date.
