Offering tranquility and long-range mountain views, this home is truly a getaway. Inside you’ll find log cabin charm. Step outside and you won’t be able to resist spending hours on the covered wrap-around deck. Located in Alleghany County, 10 minutes south of Sparta, this private vacation home welcomes both you and your family dog to the High Country experience.
Green Mountain Getaway is a log home with high wooden ceilings and warm heart-of-pine flooring. It is perched at the top of a wooded hill, with mountain peaks in the distance. On the main level, the kitchen and great room share a large open space, with a separate dining room, seating six. The great room offers plenty of comfy seating and a large flatscreen TV over the electric fireplace. Lots of ambiance – no hassle! The kitchen, featuring stainless steel appliances, is equipped with all the cooking and dishware you need for casual meals at home, as well as a toaster oven, coffee maker and microwave.
On this main level you’ll also find two bedrooms with queen beds, and two full bathrooms with shower and tub combos. Both of these bedrooms offer a TV, so all the guests can enjoy private relaxation time. From both bedrooms you can step directly out to the magnificent deck, for the outdoor time that you crave in the mountains. Soak in the view and revel in the cool mountain breezes!
The home also features a second level downstairs, perfect for kids, or additional guests. There’s a private bedroom with a TV and full bath, as well as entertainment space for the kids, with a mini pool table, a dartboard, and another TV. There’s also a sauna! From this level you can access the lower-level deck and enjoy the woodsy surroundings. Pull-out beds both downstairs and in the great room accommodate extra guests for sleeping.
Set on over an acre of grass and woods, this home is perfect for both indoor and outdoor living. You’ll love relaxing and entertaining on the deck, where you’ll find a grill for outdoor cooking. This cabin was in a nice, secluded, gated neighborhood with plenty of forest all around to really enjoy the full mountain experience. The neighborhood road was dirt and gravel and 4 wheel drive was recommended (which we had) but we were lucky enough to have good enough weather where a family member's car got up the mountain several times without issue. The cabin was beautiful. It was roomy enough for our family to spread out (we had 8 in our group), some upstairs, some downstairs. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and kitchen-y things, the beds were very comfy, the table was big enough for about 6, the family room was great for chatting or watching TV and the finished basement was set up with a small pool/ping- pong/air hockey combo table and couch. This was and ideal place to meet up with family from afar and spend some time together for the holidays. We spent some time hiking and waterfall chasing at nearby Stone Mountain State Park and visited several wineries in the area.
