The private surroundings offer lovely views of the woods and easy access to Boone and West Jefferson. Read a book on the front porch, picnic by the fire pit, star-gaze at night, and let the stress of the city melt away.

Inside you’ll find a spacious living area and eat-in kitchen. The living room features plenty of natural light, with comfy seating and a flat-screen TV. There are two bedrooms, both with queen beds, and one bathroom. The well-equipped kitchen includes a dining table for 6. After a day of exploring and recreation you’ll enjoy the convenience of meals at home. There’s also a grill, affording you more opportunity to experience the great outdoors and our refreshing mountain breezes. If you’re not in the mood to cook, you’re close to the Todd Mercantile and the towns of Boone and West Jefferson.

Experience the High Country

Whatever your objectives are for visiting the High Country, from Oak Ridge Cottage you’ll have easy access to adventure and sightseeing. Outdoor recreation opportunities include fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing, tubing, zip-lining, cave exploration, mining for gems and more. From the cottage you’re about 25 minutes from downtown West Jefferson, where you’ll find a charming assortment of shopping, art galleries and dining. This is small-town Americana at its finest. You can watch cheese being made at the Ashe County Cheese Factory, grab a movie, check out the farmers market or spend hours hunting for treasures at Antiques on Main. Craft beer is brewed in town at Boondocks and the New River Brewery, and fine dining is available at Craft Bistro. Mountain Aire Golf is a gorgeous public course in West Jefferson, with 18 holes of beautifully-maintained fairways, amazing scenery and reasonable prices. You can also venture on to Boone and Blowing Rock, for countless additional shopping and dining opportunities. Don’t forget to take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, with some of the country’s most awe-inspiring views and photo opps. In this special part of the world, the wonder of Mother Nature presents itself at every turn.

Of course, our little corner of paradise is famous for its foliage, so fall is a lovely time to visit. In the winter there’s also skiing and tubing, in remarkable snowy settings. No matter when you come, Oak Cottage will provide the scenery, adventure, and relaxation you came to the mountains for.
