The Humble Hummingbird is the perfect blend of historic charm and modern amenities.
Admire the hand-hewn beams, stone fireplace, wide plank floors and vaulted ceilings in the living area and imagine the conversations that have taken place within these walls. Or, sit a spell on the rocking chairs; the front porch is the ideal spot to take in the views and appreciate the silence.
The kitchen is quaint, but contains all of the amenities you’ll need to feel at home during your stay or fuel up for a day of exploring the High Country.
In the evening, the oversized sofas are the perfect spot for lounging in front of the gas fireplace, reading a favorite book or playing board games. When it’s time for bed, the loft where a king sized bed and twin bed are covered in cozy linens for a good night’s rest.
The Humble Hummingbird is located in the popular community of Fleetwood. It’s the ideal location for exploring the high country and just minutes to West Jefferson, Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Spend the day shopping and dining in West Jefferson where antique stores, art galleries and the iconic Ashe County Cheese Factory provide plenty of opportunities to find the perfect souvenir. Or, enjoy a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to explore the popular towns of Boone and Blowing Rock.
The cabin also offers easy access to the New River. The New River State Park Elk Shoals access point has a beach and is the perfect spot to launch a kayak or inner tube and float down the river.

This was the perfect cabin. Far enough of the busy road but not completely secluded. A nice little drive along side the river to reach the cabin was so peaceful. The view from the lofted bedroom was gorgeous when waking in the morning. This was the perfect weekend getaway! Nights were cool enough to enjoy the outside fire pit and just take in the outdoors.

What a lovely spot! I brought my 2 sons up here for a little spring break getaway. We had fun catching smallmouth and rock bass in the river. It was cold and windy so we got to enjoy the wood stove. The grill on the deck is top-shelf and seared our expired Ingles steaks to perfection. Got to watch the pink moon rise from the super comfy bed up in the loft.- Andrew , Posted: 07/25/2025

This cabin was simply wonderful! Incredible location, comfortable furnishings, and absolutely everything I needed for a relaxing weekend getaway. From evenings on the porch swing looking out over the river to waking up in the luxurious loft bed listening to rain on the tin roof, everything was PERFECT. Cozy Cabin
Cabin is so cute and comfy! Stayed here during Christmas time with family and it was such a great stay. Everyone felt comfortable and enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! It feels more like a home than a rental. The place is packed with everything you need. The kitchen was perfect for baking Christmas treats and the big kitchen table gave us space to play games as a family. The location of the cabin is secluded and peaceful but not too far from spots like the grocery store and even a Christmas tree farm! I can’t wait to come back again.- Anonymous U , Posted:
Great Weekend Getaway
Spent the weekend with kids and grandkids and cannot express what a wonderful time we had together! The cabin is so quaint and perfectly appointed. Cozy and updated with all the comforts of home. Whether playing games, catching a movie or sitting by the outdoor fire making s'mores - there's something for everyone! The large bed swing on the porch is a great escape for early morning sunrises and lazy afternoons. The New River is just steps away for hours of tubing and kayaking.
