Recent Reviews About This Property
"This year we stayed at the Peaceful Summit at Fleetwood Falls. The cabin is older, but very comfortable and offers perfect views. Only had one complaint, the owners really need to provide some sort of window shades for the living room area. The morning sun is a bit much and makes it very hard to sit and enjoy relaxing with a hot cup of coffee."
"Beautiful views! Small place with a country feel. "
"We love the mountains in the fall. This place was perfect for our very special extended weekend...we were married on the deck, engulfed in the beautiful scenery, surrounded by Friends! We were comfortable and the house was warm and inviting. The location was scenic and close to many things to do."
"We came with our kids who flew in from Caymans for mountain vacation. The home has beautiful views and comfortable living space. Nice little touches make it feel like home. The drive up and driveway are a bit narrow but navigable just watch your step and do bring flashlight to navigate from car to house in dark. Found the lake and son and grandson both caught and released nice lil bass. We love the area and found this home to be perfect for us to come and go."
"Great stay! The place was clean and offered good views and a good location - close to Boone, Todd. Our family enjoyed a wonderful, laidback weekend here. Drawbacks: very limited parking, no dishwasher."
"We wanted to do a last little vacation as a family of three. This was a great place to stay!"
"Everything was WONDERFUL!! The views from cabin are spectacular. It was a very easy drive to get to the cabin, it had everything we were looking for. Highly recommend staying here and with Ashe Country Vacations. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean cabin. We WILL be staying with you all again, A+!!"
"My wife and I went there for our anniversary and it was just what we wanted it to be. The views where some of the best we've seen in the mountains, and the cabin was private. You could barely see one other cabin from our view but it was vacant. "Peaceful Summit" was clean and quite, the beds slept good, bathrooms and parking were a little tight, everything worked as it should. I built fires every night and that took me back to my childhood. We will stay there again, it was priced fairly and great views."
"My husband and I spend my bday wknd at Peaceful Summit. We enjoyed the peace and the view from deck. Chalet had everything we needed. It was a little further from Boone than I thought but we spent the afternoon hiking at Mount Jefferson (I recommend) and lunch in West Jefferson. Glad I didn't have to do laundry as it is inconveniently located underneath the cabin in a little room. Parking is definitely an issue too. 2 vehicles would be a push and more than that would be impossible. Other than these few things I would recommend this cabin (especially for the price)."
"Overall the rental was clean. There was a few things that needed attention. The grill was dirty and we needed to clean it before using it. Also, the laundry room needs a ceiling to hide the falling insulation. Everything else was great!"
"Property staff was excellent, no complaints. The property itself is dated and uses electric baseboard heat. When we arrived all power cords were on the base heat and very hot. I think this needs looking at by the owners."
"Had a fantastic time. Close to all shopping and eating areas. Beautiful mountain views and rivers. Home was lovely however something needs to be done with the huge windows. Curtains or something. Very warm when sun comes thru and blinding. Can't see tv or anything else in the room but a wonderful place. Would stay there again."
"Scenic view from the porch, secluded mountainside location, quick and easy drive to Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway."
"Cute little house. View from living room was great. Kitchen stocked very well. Upstairs bathroom is a little small but very manageable for a few days. Bedrooms do need more lamps. They are very dark. Home was very clean and well managed. "
"All in all our stay was very pleasurable. No real complaints, just some notes for improvement.
- Gas grill "flame tamer" parts fell down into the grill and wouldn't stay in their proper place. Grill worked fine otherwise.
- Seems to be a leak in both bathrooms but wasn't able to tell where it was coming from in either bathroom.
- Coffee mug was left in the microwave (who really cares, just pointing it out)
- In the early day the sun can be overwhelming and it can get rather warm in the main room. While I want that view 100% of the time, when the sun is that bright and warm, some shades for that small period of the day would have been nice.
- We arrived and night and yes, did have a flashlight, but there were path lights that just don't work anymore. It would have been nice to have at least some light on the dark path up to the door so we could carry more stuff up vs carrying a flashlight in one hand, bags in the other.
- There's a dog at the end of the street that nearly attacked (definitely very much scared) my guest when she went out for a run. The dog is off leash and very aggressive. It's possible there's an invisible fence, and it's possible the owners are confident the dog isn't going to actually attack somebody, but for your average passerby, you're scared for your life. I realize this isn't something the owner or property management has any direct control over, but it does impact a decision to rent this location again as part of the reason for escaping to the mountains is to explore and at this property, you're limited to that street unless you drive in a car."
"Had a lovely weekend at Peaceful Summit. House is as described. Views are great and the drive wasn't too steep, although parts were only wide enough for one car. "
"Very nice cabin. Views were the best!!"
"The cabin had the best view of seeing the mountains, it was very close to some hicking areas and parks. Great for outdoor fun. The only issue was the property had a lot of bugs around that made it impossible to keep them out of the cabin. But we are in the wilderness so it is expected. It really is a great little getaway and a great place to enjoy the outdoors. "
"Good directions to find location. Ended up being a bit farther out of town than I was expecting. Plenty of space and nice views. Access to wifi a plus. Some furnishings outdated/worn. Overall nice. "
"My husband and I have been staying on Laurel trail for years, and for the last 10 Peaceful Summit. It is theperfect get away when you want complete peace and to simplify life. The deck is the best view around . No matter what season you can sit on the deck and relax. We find this location to be central to all the hikes we enjoy in the high country. The new deck was an added enjoyment."
"Gorgeous views! Mid-October was beautiful with the changing color. It was a very well taken care of home. The only complaint really is the parking. Not a very large driveway so it is hard getting in and out of the car with the tree branches on one side and a slope on the other. But all in all I believe we would stay here again and would recommend it to others."
Response from StayBlueRidge:Thank you for your response. We appreciate your suggestion and we are working on the tree branches. We are glad that you were able to see the changing leaves. Thank you for staying with us!
"Perfect size and location for our family. Staff was extremely helpful and the home was easy to find. Would definitely return"
Response from StayBlueRidge:Thank you for your review. We are happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
"The cabin was a very cute. It had a nice character touch. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay despite some issues that I had written to you on a separate e mail yesterday. The property condition on the inside was very comfortable. The location is difficult and not easy to find especially if you arrive after dark. The home was clean except where I had noted issues in my e wife and I were down for the App State- Miami game in Boone. "
"Cabin was very clean & well equipped. Great view & beautiful setting. Serene & peaceful. Sleeps up to 6 people but only parks 2 vehicles safely. "
"It was a last-minute getaway but it was very much needed. This Captain gave us peace and quiet beautiful views and nice amenities"
"Everything was great and we were very happy"
"Two Thumbs Up!!!"
"Had an amazing stay, the house was beautiful and in an amazing location, very close to Boone and a lot of activities. Was nice to have a lot of amenities at the location made our trip very convenient and beautiful! Would love to go back one day and highly recommend if planning a trip to the area!"
"Beautiful view, great fireplace and between Boone andJefferson. Cleared the streets quickly. Perfect winter get away."
"Wonderful cabin tucked into a mountain with splendid views. The location is great with Boone and W Jefferson 20-30 minutes away. Comfortable bed and there IS Wifi, though the listing says it doesn't. Deck is a little scary, but a contractor appeared at the door to price a new one, so that will probably be a moot point. Loved our time there !"
"I stayed at this property 10/15 for 2 nights. The house is nice. My only concern (which is addressed in description of property when looking to rent) is the parking. It stated max of 2 cars. We had a pickup and a Corolla. These 2 vehicles barely fit. In fact we had to let out the passengers in the street before parking vehicle due to the brush and trees and skinny driveway. I would stay here again but only bring 1 vehicle if possible. Also-this road is a one lane road so if you meet another vehicle one of you needs to back up to let the other pass. "
"Loved view needed more yard and parking. Overall great but beds super hard. But still loved it"
"Have stayed many times at this wonderful, comfortable home. This place is not fancy but as the name says peaceful. The view is the highlight. If you like feeling like you are the only people in the land than this is for you. Country living at its best."
"Everything about Peaceful Summit was as described. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. The entire process was easy. Rental agreements to entrance to house. Everything was very clear. Suggestions on where to park if more than one car and the deck appears to be a little shaky. "
"This house is nestled in an impressive subdivision community. Privacy is excellent, and GPS found the house w/ no problems at all. The roads within the community are narrow, and the parking is narrow and limited. It wasn't a problem at all, but we were mindful.
The house is well kept, and likely constructed in the early to mid 80s. There is neither a dishwasher nor laundry facilities. This didn't slow us down one bit though. There is no central AC, but the bedroom window units worked well during our stay (June). A pest control contract wouldn't be a bad thing either, but this is country living!
The kitchen was functional and well equipped. The kids loved the sleeping loft, and it can sleep up to 6.
We had a great stay, and would gladly stay there again. Two thumbs up!"
"Our trip to Peaceful Summit was WONDERFUL to say the least! The house was clean and very accommodating; we needed nothing other than snow!! This was our first stay but rest assured; we'll be back soon."
"Excellent. Enjoyed it. One recommendation, can you have blinds put on the great room windows? In the morning, from sunup to around 11AM, the direct sun heats up the great room , dining and kitchen areas. It does get hot. "
"We were very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful this cabin was. It was super clean and comfortable. The view was just beautiful!"
"The view is the best. We have stayed here for years and have never been disappointed. For my husband and I or my friend and I this is the perfect place. We like hikes, kayaking and this year tried the Virginia Creeper and Peaceful Summit is centrally located. We love everything about this cabin in the trees with the beautiful New River below. I can't think of a more tranquil place to visit, a nd I look forward to my next trip up there . We have been in a snow storm or in the beautiful summer and have never been disappointed."
Response from StayBlueRidge:This property is recommended by guests, she checked the wrong box, please read the 4 and 5 star review!
"Fleetwood Falls is a mountaintop community that has been in development for decades. Some properties are shiny and new. This one has been there since the beginning. It's a little rough around the edges - no dishwasher, deck a bit rickety with railings not up to code, etc. The tradeoff is one of the most spectacular views imaginable. In addition, the landscape has grown up around it creating a great sense of privacy and feeling of being nestled into the mountain. The tradeoffs are worth it and we'd return there again, for sure."
